What is God calling us out of or away from?

Church Family,

I cannot believe another year is drawing to a close. With Thanksgiving Day behind us, we can give thanks for our Savior as the Christmas season is here. I am thankful for each of you who have worked so diligently to set up for the Christmas Hayride. I am thankful for each of you who have volunteered to be here one or more weekends. Friday, December 7, is the first night. Please pray for each person and family who will experience Jesus during the Hayride. Please sign up to help and bring cookies. The dates are Friday and Saturday (Dec. 7-8,14-15, and 21-22).

I have been working through a devotional about Lazarus (John 11:17-44). In reading this, I have seen new things in this passage. Yes, this passage contains the shortest verse in the Bible, "Jesus wept" (John 11:35). This is not the focal verse. Jesus delayed going to Lazarus, but the timing was perfect because God was glorified in the death and resurrection of Lazarus. The application for us is the grave (sin), and Jesus calling us out of sin. He does not only call us out of or away from sin without out calling us to something (John 11:41-44). What is God calling us out of or away from? As we are called out of sin, we move toward Christ and have freedom in Christ. My prayer is that we hear God calling to us, we are obedient, and freely do what He commands.

Merry Christmas,

Andy
