Looking Ahead and Looking In
Typical Texas, we have only had one week (maybe two) of winter, and here we are ramping up talk of Youth Summer Camp. The Chili Cook Off Fundraiser is Wednesday, Feb. 15. Please bring your chili and/or your appetite as we try to warm up from these “winter temps.” We will have toppings and desserts.
Summer Camp is not the only exciting news! The youth will make the move to The Loft THIS Sunday, Feb. 19! So, if you hear a little more “noise” this Sunday, don't worry, we will be praising Jesus, having breakfast, and Small Group. “Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth; break forth into joyous song and sing praises” (Psalm 98:4).
Because Andy Brown will be with us on Wednesday, Feb. 22, the students will have their first FireFall in The Loft on March 1. The whole church is invited to participate in a time of prayer for The Loft on Sunday, Feb. 26 at 8:45 a.m.
The above verse (Psalm 98:4) reminds me of Ignite Small Group the last few Sunday morn-ings. We have been studying Psalm 119. This Psalm has shown us that God's Word can keep our hearts clean, can give us a promised life, and IS always relevant for our lives. As Pastor Chris has prepared messages for us, we have been encouraged and reminded we can have no regrets in life. Living with no regrets can only come when we spend time with God through prayer, Bible study, and worship. All of these flow from one another, and they will give us a heart which overflows to others. The question is, on whom or what do we focus? Another way to ask this is, what is your heart condition? David was a man after God's own heart. Yes, he was a sinner, but God loved him and pursued him. Focus on the things of God (Phil. 4:8), and guard your heart. "Guard your heart above all else, for it is the source of life" (Proverbs 4:23).
