More Like Christ

What are some of your favorite gospel accounts or scripture verses that reveal Jesus’ character? Is it His interaction with the Samaritan woman at the well in John 4? Is it the way Jesus rebukes religious hypocrites in Luke 11? Is it the way He restored Peter in John 21? Meditate on this prayer from John Baillie…

“As we consider the life of Jesus,
let us remember:
His eagerness, not to be ministered to,
but to minister;
His sympathy with suffering of every kind;
His bravery in the face of His own suffering;
His meekness, so that, when persecuted,
He did not exact revenge;
His steadiness of purpose in keeping to
His appointed task;
His simplicity;
His self-discipline;
His complete reliance upon You,
His Father in heaven.
And in each of these ways,
give us grace to follow in His footsteps.”

Right now, the greatest joy we have as believers is the joy of living out God’s purpose for us as we are transformed into the image of Christ. We will not look exactly like Jesus in this lifetime, but through His grace, and as we strive to stay connected to Him, He will accomplish his will in us. And in the future, we will one day be reunited with Him and fully realize WHO He is.

My encouragement for you is to live out this joy that God offers us NOW. Bring others alongside your life as you struggle to live this out. You don’t have to be perfect. You just have to be securely dedicated to His purpose and unashamed of the One who calls you.
