Small Groups at South Hills
Small Groups at South Hills are NOT a small deal. They’re huge! In fact, they are one of the most important pieces of our strategy to fulfill the Great Commission. Our newest Small Group (the Coed 60’s+ class led by Glen Frailey) has grown by leaps and bounds. New things usually do. In fact, this Sunday, they almost had too many people for their room!
We began our Young Adult Ministry called Rooted in August of 2017. They have truly flourished on Wednesday evenings over the last year with participants from ages 18-32. The next step is the planting of a vital Sunday morning Young Adult Small Group focusing in on those from 18 to their early 20’s. The leadership team is forming and will be launching the group in early February.
Whether it is planting a new Small Group, sending leaders into children’s or student ministry, or even sending out a beloved couple to serve on staff at another local church, we always need to be prepared for new growth by investing in new and upcoming leaders. What this means for each of you is prayerfully considering if God is calling you to step into a new area of service.
For those who are willing to be trained in adult Bible study leadership, we will offer “Increasing Engagement in Scripture Study” on Saturday, January 26, from 9:00-10:30 AM. This will be a great training event for current, future, and substitute Adult Small Group leaders to attend. It is not a repeat of previous training sessions.
For 3-5 core members of each adult Small Group, we are offering “Everyone Has a Role” on Sunday, January 27, from 1:30-3:00. This will focus on prayer, service projects, social gatherings, and follow-up with visitors. It will involve some direct training and also breaking up into those core groups for discussion, brainstorming, and setting dates for events. We hope you join in one or both of these trainings!
