The God Who Leads
The children at South Hills, ages K-6, have been studying their way through the Bible in The Gospel Project. They just finished a unit entitled “The God Who Leads.” They learned that the early church’s rapid growth lead to some disagreements and problems. The leaders of the church addressed these problems by reminding everyone that Jesus is their ultimate leader and that they share the common mission given by Him to take the gospel to the entire world.
Galatians 2:20 was their key passage: “I have been crucified with Christ. I no longer live but Christ lives in me. This life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God who loved me and gave Himself for me.”
From this verse and others, they learned that we are saved through faith in Jesus alone, Christians are joined together by faith in Jesus, and God calls us to treat people with mercy because Jesus shows us mercy. Others will know that we are Christ followers because we love one another. Obedience is our response to God’s love for us! Are you allowing the message and truth of the gospel to change how you interact with others? Is there something causing division between you and a fellow believer?
God gives us the Holy Spirit and He gives us the power to love one another. When believers in the church love one another, the world sees what kind of love Jesus has for sinners.
We have seen some wonderful examples of believers at South Hills coming together in the last few weeks. We had a very successful work day, 50 + youth gathered for a worship night, over 40 people ministering at Beautiful Feet, love poured out on those who have lost loved ones, a wonderfully moving and heartfelt choir led service, the list goes on and on. I love being a part of the South Hills family on mission for Christ and pray that God will continue to bless and lead us in the ways that we should go!
